Where to meet us at media shows and events
Northwest Territories Tourism attends several media-related shows and events each year. Communications and other staff members attend as required. Industry members may also be interested in participating.
These shows and events are our opportunity to interact with media from international and North American publications, radio, and television production companies as well as web-based media.
Our attendance provides an opportunity to meet with media in a marketplace environment, to provide information on travel to the NWT but also to develop professional relationships with media representatives and to encourage participation in familiarization tours (FAMs) to the Territory. Contacts made at media shows and events result in an important portion of our annual FAM activity.
On an ongoing basis, Northwest Territories Tourism attends the following:
February 15 - 18, 2008, Halifax, Nova Scotia
Travel Media Association of Canada Marketplace
TMAC, the premier travel media association in Canada, has over 450 members: 40 percent media, 60 percent industry. The annual TMAC conference and AGM brings together travel media and tourism industry members, primarily from Canada, for professional development and to interact in a media marketplace. This event is hosted annually in February in a Canadian City.
July 3 - 6, 2008, Quebec City, Quebec
GoMedia Canada Marketplace
GMC is an international marketplace scheduled annually in March. GMC is now a stand alone event, previously associated with Rendezvous Canada. It brings together 100 or more tourism industry media representatives and a similar number of travel media from Canada, Asia Pacific, Europe and Latin America. This event is hosted annually in a Canadian City. It is an international showcase event that allows industry members an exclusive opportunity to meet with media who may be interested in exploring story lines and production potential. The media marketplace provides 50 individual interviews based on two NWT tourism staff attending.
April 7 - 9, 2008, Los Angeles, California USA
Canada Media Marketplace
CMMP is hosted annually in April in a US city (alternating east and west). This marketplace enables NWT Tourism to build and extend relationships with key media in the United States and with Canadian media working in the US market. This is a premiere event arranged through Canadian Tourism Commission. Components of the conference include the opportunity to host events as well as participation in the media marketplace with the potential for as many as 50 individual media interviews.
