Dogsledding
Great dogsledding packages are available throughout the NWT, from the South Slave Region to the Western Arctic. You can learn to drive a team yourself, or go along for the excitement of the ride. Tour the Arctic coast with an Inuvialuit outfitter, sledge across Great Slave Lake or visit a snowy Bison Sanctuary. See the Aurora and sleep over at a Dene cultural camp. It's all available in Canada's Northwest Territories. Northern outfitters will equip you to tackle winter head-on. Packages are available for all ages and levels of skill. Dogsled races, including the Canadian Championship Dog Derby, highlight dozens of community festivals.
