There's big game in every region
No location in Canada matches the Northwest Territories for vast wilderness and the variety of big game hunting adventures available. Our trophy hunting season begins in the early spring on the arctic coast, where expeditions to hunt muskox and polar bear are conducted on the snow-covered land and sea ice.
In summer, big game hunters travel in the Mackenzie Mountains on guided hunts for Dall's sheep, mountain caribou, moose, goat, wolf and wolverine.
Late summer brings autumn colour to the barrenlands of the Northwest Territories. The great herds of central Canadian barrenground caribou are on the move, returning to the treed area in preparation for winter. Big game hunts include barrenground caribou, wolf and wolverine.
For a truly unique big game hunting experience, a limited number of hunts are available in the Boreal forest for the largest land animal in North America, the wood bison.
