Northwest Territories parks
The Northwest Territories operates public campgrounds and roadside parks which reveal the stark beauty of northern Canada. Our campgrounds are spacious and well laid out, located in an area representative of the surrounding landscape, often near a lake or a river. Our campgrounds feature walking trails, fishing or swimming, boating or canoeing, and interpretation of the regional history or landscape. Wayside parks are located along all our highways. Stop for a picnic at a scenic river crossing or waterfall. Hike a well marked trail to a scenic viewpoint. Or launch your boat on a river or lake where few have traveled. This is Canadian wilderness slightly tamed, and at its best.
To learn more about the territorial parks, please visit the Tourism and Parks website maintained by the Government of the Northwest Territories' Department of Industry, Tourism and Investment. There you will find information about open seasons, hunting and fishing, visitor centres, and more. You can even pre-book your perfect campground spot via their CampingNWT.ca site.
