Wilderness sign-in
Take advantage of the NWT's voluntary, free wilderness travel registration program. You visit the nearest RCMP detachment to sign in, giving information about your intended route and expected date of arrival at your destination. If something happens and you're overdue, a search will be initiated. (Urgent messages from home can be passed on to you, as well.)
It's imperative to notify the nearest RCMP detachment of your safe arrival at trip's end, so that no expensive, time-consuming search will be triggered.
